The Knights was a powerful group of humans that existed a thousand years ago in Lucid Adventure. In the present day Lucid Adventure, they are called The Ancient Knights.[1][2] Members of the order are known as "Knights".[3]

Overview[]

The Knights Order was a transnational organisation created to protect humanity from demons.[4] About a thousand years ago, humans and demons fought an endless war. The Demons back then were much stronger than they are in present times because they had not lost their strength. Humans were always brutally defeated, but, humanity also had a 'sword'. A sword of hope to protect humanity from the demons. They were the Knights Order. They were the powerful defenders of the world possessing a righteous and strong heart that gathered from all over the world.[5] It was the knights who brought the scattered humans together as one and led to victory in their war against the demons.[2]

They were a powerful and righteous group created by the descendants of The Heroes who saved the world with Hoi. The first knights sacrificed their souls to seal the soul of 'Sik'. Among them was the descendant of the first hero and the leader of the Knights, Grand Master Haru.[6]

A 4-man party is the smallest unit of the Knights.[7]

Translation Notes[]

WEBTOON Translations[]

기사단 is translated as The Knights in Hardcore Leveling Warrior . It was translated as The Knights at the start of X Ash but changed to The Knightage .

Breaking down the words individually, 기사 means "knight". 단 is the Korean form of the hanja, 團, which means "(military) regiment; corps" or "(military or paramilitary) formation; troops; armed organization".

기사단 (騎士團) literally means a "group of Knights; order of Knights; knightage (knights collectively); chivalric order". An 'order' is a group of people who join together for religious or similar reasons and live according to particular rules. It is usually translated as "The Knights; Knight's Order; Knights Order; Order of the Knights; order of knighthood; Order".

Because when 기사단 is used, it already implies that it is a group of Knights, it is almost always translated as simply "knights" or sometimes "order" when translating from Korean to English. That is because "order" is usually used to infer a group of Knights generally.

  • Whilst watching the war between the humans and demons, The Dragon of Evil became fond of the Knights. The Ancient Knights inspired him to create the Dragon Knights.[2]

Mythology[]

Order of Knights[]

기사단 (An order of chivalry, order of knighthood, chivalric order, or equestrian order) is an order of knights, typically founded during or inspired by the original Catholic military orders of the Crusades (c. 1099–1291) and paired with medieval concepts of ideals of chivalry. Since the 15th century, orders of chivalry, often as dynastic orders, began to be established in a more courtly fashion that could be created ad hoc. These orders would often retain the notion of being a confraternity, society or other association of members, but some of them were ultimately purely honorific and consisted of a medal decoration. In fact, these decorations themselves often came to be known informally as orders. These institutions in turn gave rise to the modern-day orders of merit of sovereign states.[14]

Military Order[]

A military order (Latin: militaris ordo) is a Christian religious society of knights. The original military orders were the 'Knights Templar'(성전 기사단), the 'Knights Hospitaller'(구호기사단), the Order of Saint James, the 'Order of Calatrava'(칼라트라바 기사단), 'Order of Santiago'(산티아고 기사단) and the 'Teutonic Knights'(튜튼 기사단). They arose in the Middle Ages in association with the Crusades, both in the Holy Land, the Baltic states, and the Iberian peninsula; their members being dedicated to the protection of pilgrims and the defence of the Crusader states. They are the predecessors of chivalric orders. Most members of military orders were laymen who took religious vows, such as of poverty, chastity, and obedience, according to monastic ideals. The orders owned houses called commanderies all across Europe and had a hierarchical structure of leadership with the grand master at the top. The Knights Templar, the largest and most influential of the military orders, was suppressed in the early fourteenth century; only a handful of orders were established and recognized afterwards. However, some persisted longer in their original functions, such as the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Order of Saint John, the respective Catholic and Protestant successors of the Knights Hospitaller. Those military orders that survive today have evolved into purely honorific or ceremonial orders or else into charitable foundations.[15]
